PACIFIER FAQs
WHICH PACIFIER SHOULD I CHOOSE?
Bumi Bébé pacifiers are available with a round teat. This teat shape is similar in to most bottle teats and is ideal for babies that are used to being bottle-fed. The pacifiers are available in two different sizes. The smaller size is recommended for babies aged 0-3 months, while the larger size is recommended for babies aged 3-36 months.
HOW DO I CLEAN MY PACIFIER?
Before you use the pacifier for the first time thoroughly clean then sterilize it by either immersing the pacifier in a baby‐bottle sterilizing solution in accordance with the instructions for use of the sterilizing solution; or boiling the pacifier in water for 5 minutes before it is used for the first time. Let it cool down and empty out any water inside the teat.
WHY ARE MY OLD AND NEW PACIFIERS DIFFERENT SHAPES AND SIZES?
The old pacifier might have "grown" in size or changed shape throughout the course of its use. This can happen because natural is flexible. It is possible that the pacifier has resized if your child sucks very hard, if the pacifier has been used for too long (we recommend replacing pacifiers every 6‐8 weeks) or has been incorrectly stored/maintained i.e. washed in dishwashing machine.
IS IT NORMAL FOR MY PACIFIER TO PEEL?
No, it is not normal for the pacifier to peel. The problem might arise if it has been used for longer than the recommended 2 months or cleaned incorrectly. In order to ensure proper hygiene, the pacifier can be sterilized in boiling water. We suggest you stop using it if peeling and replace it with a new one. It is also a good idea to use more than one pacifier at a time so that your pacifier will not wear out as fast. All pacifiers should be replaced at least every 6-8 weeks.
WHEN IS THE RIGHT TIME TO STOP USING PACIFIERS?
It is very individual and varies a lot from culture to culture, parent to parent and of course child to child. We recommend you stop using a pacifier after 36 months.
HOW LONG CAN MY BABY USE A PACIFER?
Although this may depend on how often it is in use, it is recommended that you replace your baby’s pacifier every 6-8 weeks and to not exceed 2 months of use. Keep an eye out for any changes in the surface, changes in size and shape, or tear in the material, and replace the pacifier if you notice any differences. When your baby has teeth, make sure you pull the teat in all directions before use and replace the pacifier at the first sign of damage or weakness. Do not use a pacifier that shows any changes in colour or other irregularities.
HOW CAN I DISPOSE OF MY OLD PACIFIERS?
Bumi Bébé pacifiers are made from pure natural rubber and, as such, they are 100% biodegradable and can be disposed of with your organic waste.
CAN I PUT MY PACIFIERS IN THE DISHWASHER?
Your Bumi Bébé pacifier should not be cleaned in the dishwasher as this may cause damage to the natural rubber. Furthermore, the water in dishwashers is not high enough to sufficiently sterilize the pacifiers.
CAN I FREEZE THE PACIFIERS WHEN MY BABY IS TEETHING?
It is advised that you do not freeze your pacifiers as this may alter the properties of the material and may cause damage to the product. Additionally, you should always avoid skin contact with frozen objects. Direct skin contact and even indirect skin contact with ice can cause skin injuries to you and your baby.
