NATURAL RUBBER
Hevea pacifiers, teethers and bath toys are all made of 100% natural rubber, which is a biodegradable and sustainable raw material. Natural rubber has the ability to be broken down physically and/or chemically by microorganisms – usually requiring exposure to sunlight, air and moisture. As natural rubber biodegrades and crumbles back into the earth, it will not contribute to pollution or landfill.
SUSTAINABILITY
The name Hevea comes from the Latin name for the rubber tree, Hevea Brasiliensis. The natural rubber it produces is the foundation of Hevea’s product range. Using natural rubber, rather than synthetic rubber made from oil, helps act against climate change by increasing the number of trees, which are sustainably planted, and avoiding the use of fossil fuels. Hevea is also a plastic free company and uses no plastic in its products or packaging.
RECYCLING
Recycling is essential for Hevea as it is a core component when thinking of the environment, as well as the economy. At Hevea, they recycle their office and kitchen waste as much as possible, and encourage and support their manufacturers in recycling their production lines by requiring ISO certification.
SAFETY
Hevea tests all their products with international companies such as SGS, Intertek and Bureau Veritas to ensure that they meet the required safety standards in Europe, US, Canada, and Australia. The products have been certified to conform to following safely standards: EN1400, EN 71, AS/NZS ISO 8124, and ASTM. Each pacifier is stress tested before it is packaged to ensure that it is safe, and each pacifier is engraved with batch codes to identify production date.
FSC CERTIFIED
All of Hevea’s packaging is FSC certified. The FSC trademark is a guarantee that the paper (or timber) comes from a responsibly managed forest, which helps to guard against deforestation and land degradation. This is important not only for the environment as a whole, but also for the millions of people who depend on the forests for their livelihoods.
MAYASIAN RUBBER BOARD
Hevea uses natural rubber tapped in Malaysia where they pay a percentage of cost of the raw rubber to the Malaysian Rubber board. This in turn helps to create a sustainable industry by replanting rubber trees and investing in research and development towards sustaining the viability of the rubber industry in Malaysia. www.lgm.gov.my
CO2 NEUTRAL
Hevea’s goal is to operate their business with no CO2 emissions. As part of their commitment to reduce their carbon footprint, they neutralise their transport by buying European CO2 allowances. The result is green, climatefriendly products for their customers. https://www.co2neutralwebsite.com/
RE-USE
Hevea loves to re-use things in order to benefit the environment but also to save costs. They reuse the leftover rubber offcuts from the production of their original products to create new products in their “Up-cycled” range. This helps to reduce waste and ensure that all of the natural rubber collected for manufacturing is used.
