KOALA ECO FAQs
Are your products strong enough against COVID-19?
All of Koala Eco’s surface sprays have been independently lab-tested, and have the capacity to kill 99.9% of germs, viruses and bacteria when used as directed. Regular cleaning is recommended – and don’t forget doorknobs and taps as well as draining boards and frequently used hard surfaces.
What about your dish soap and hand wash?
Our dish soap and hand wash are naturally antibacterial and will wash away viruses and bacteria, however, they don’t contain alcohol so do not work as a sanitiser. If you use our hand wash, remember to wash for at least 20 seconds, and rinse in hot water.
Are your cleaners safe for all kinds of surface?
As an important part of Koala Eco’s production and development processes, we’ve had our cleaners tested on multiple surfaces including marble, concrete, and porous stone, to ensure they won’t damage any of these materials, and to make sure we are using a safe amount of essential oils. Every test has given us beautiful results. We do however always recommend a patch test when you use the cleaner for the first time on a new surface.
Do you have a cleaner that’s especially good for wooden surfaces?
Our floor cleaner is formulated to work really well on wooden surfaces. It contains the essential oils of Mandarin and Peppermint, and smells incredible. It is pH-neutral and does not contain alcohol, so it won’t dry out your floor or wood furniture.
You may be interested to know we have tested our floor cleaner on many types of surfaces including waxed wood, engineered stone, concrete, polished concrete, caesar stone and white marble and its work brilliantly without causing any damage. Of course, we always recommend a patch test first.
Also, it's important you follow the directions on the bottle and mix our floor cleaner with water, otherwise it can feel sticky if used without diluting.
Are your products safe around babies and pets, and can I use them during pregnancy?
Absolutely. Koala Eco products are completely safe to be used around babies and pets, and safe for use during pregnancy. Our cleaners, sprays and lotions are antibacterial and antifungal, and we use carefully measured, safe amounts of native Australian essential oils in our products, which are also certified cruelty-free, allergy safe, and non-toxic. We aim for the naturopathic benefits of breathing in essential oils rather than customers being blasted by synthetic fragrance: so there are no artificial perfumes in anything we make.
I notice you use plastic for your bottles?
Yes, we do. Our bottles are made from 100% locally collected recycled plastic and are also recyclable. No new plastic is created with our bottles. We also offer refills, concentrates and refillable glass options.
Known as rPET, this process recycles original PET containers into ‘new’ bottles, and is more environmentally friendly because rPET has a lower carbon footprint than virgin PET. The same size, strength, shape and transparency as our original bottles, our rPET bottles appear—appropriately enough—to have a slight tint. After use, they are still recyclable into other products. This means Koala Eco is no longer be responsible for creating any further plastic for our bottles.
We also make sure our packaging, boxes etc are recycled. And don’t forget, each Koala Eco bottle you buy triggers a donation to One Percent for the Planet.
I have a septic tank. Are your products OK for this?
All of Koala Eco’s products are totally suitable for grey water and septic tanks. Any alcohol we use in our ingredients is plant-derived and biodegradable. This means it is produced as a by-product of the fermentation of natural sugars in fruit. It’s a natural preservative and also kills germs.
All the ingredients in our products including this plant-derived alcohol are readily biodegradable and do not contain phosphates or any other chemicals known to create issues in septic systems.
What is the expiry on your products?
Koala Eco products don’t have a use-by date but we suggest using the products within 3 years from manufacture to keep things fresh and avoid too much settling. The batch code date is stamped on every product.
